What is a passive
speaker?
A Passive
speaker is a speaker that requires power from an external amplifier to produce
the sound. Active speakers have an amplifier built into them, rather than passive
speakers don’t.
Passive
speakers work by converting the electrical signal into sound waves using
drivers, crossovers and the amplifier to create the sound together.
The cabinet
is designed to enhance the sound quality of the speaker but protect it from
damage. The size and shape of the speaker, and also the speaker type of
material used can affect the sound of the speaker. A Wooden cabinet will give
off a warmer nicer sound than a traditional plastic cabinet.
