Disco Light and DJ Light FAQs
What kind of lights do DJs use?
DJs use a huge range of lights and gadgets to improve their show. Usually, a DJ will have a healthy mix of laser beam lights, disco balls, head lighting, and even screw-in light bulbs. Don't forget the lighting rig or accessories to clamp, wire, or screw your lights into their optimum positions. With a mixture of types of light that give impressive and varying displays to your viewers, you are guaranteed a successful set.
Should DJs have lights?
Yes! Imagine a party with music but no lighting effects. Your venue would need to leave their lights on, and the atmosphere would not be fit for a party. Lights are worth an investment just as your DJ equipment is, as your music could be perfect but if the vibes are not right, people will not enjoy themselves as much! Tools like engine lighting can also amp up your performance with minimal effort, as they will synchronise your lights to the beat of your mixes.
Do DJs bring their own lights?
Yes they do! Your light setup is completely customisable to your show, so you will need to travel with your whole performance in your bag. You can use lighting programmes or engine lighting to synchronise your lights to your mix and you only need to purchase the lights you require.
What should be in a basic lighting setup?
LED lighting stands are a great way to start as they are large and powerful, and give off a lot of light. The Chauvet Kinta is small but mighty and we would recommend having one in your collection. After these lights, or a similar model, we would aim to get a par can, uplighter, or batten to add more dimension to your light setup.
